What customers say?

“ Initially, I had wanted to go to the sister restaurant Mitate at Arashiyama but found that it had closed, sadly. So I was very happy to find Ryu no Hige which is in central Kyoto. I think the restaurant deserves a higher rating than its current one (4.3*). The lunch is reasonably priced, plating is beautiful, and explanation done in perfect English. The desserts (buffet style) were pleasing to both the eye and the palate. Thank you for letting us bring our child along and we hope to come again. ”

“ It wasn’t just about beautifully plating a single dish; it was an opportunity to create a cohesive story through the entire meal. This was backed by solid culinary skills, an impeccable selection of beautiful and appropriate utensils —nothing was lacking in any aspect. ”

“ Fantastic! We totally enjoyed it and thinking of going back again if menu change. Place is so clean n space is so good between tables. The plating, service, food, drinks . Get the wine pairing! “ Have been here twice, lunch and dinner, same meal each time and truly a fun experience, a cascade of flavors brilliantly organized by the chef, would classify this as two if not three star, yes 3 star Michelin restaurant. The entire experience curated perfectly and the food oh my gosh, no words do it justice! ”

“ If you are looking for a place that offers a unique service during your meal...well this is the place. Without spoiling too much detail, they take you on an trip around Kyoto with the food they serve and a story. With the season they have a different story and a dish to share so is also fun to go back again and again. ”

“ Exceptional service and food concept. Will return for their next season menu when I'm back in Kyoto ”

“ Liked this place very much, it’s like a good surprise. We had dinner here, and thought the course was a good value. They sell chocolate at the reception around 2000yen for 6, and the course let you have “all-you-can-eat” for chocolate from one go for the dessert. So we thought it was a good price. Also the food is fresh and creative, and showed Kyoto culture. Very suitable for girl catch-ups. ”

“ Fascinating dining experience. Our lunch was themed around love shrines in Kyoto. The courses were very beautiful and our server explained each in English and Japanese. I think this is perfect for a first meal in Kyoto, it gets you ready for starting to see the sights! The taste of the food is good, though some of the dishes weren’t my favorite. But there was enough variety that it didn’t matter there was one I didn’t like. And there was a great dessert buffet at the end where everything was delicious. ”
